Discover and enjoy a trip to the “Lost City of the Incas”
, Machu Picchu, Peru
; one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
This archaeological complex of Machu Picchu
, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983, remained hidden behind the mist of a humid forest of exuberant vegetation until the year 1911, when the North American explorer, Hiram Bingham, made public the famous finding of the citadel.
This Machu Picchu tour
also includes a visit to the city of Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire. There still remains a large amount of archaeological evidence that tells about its glorious and majestic past. In this part of your trip, you will visit Cusco’s main constructions such as Sacsayhuaman
, Koricancha, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Sacsayhuaman
is built in such a way that a single piece of paper will not fit between the stones. It is surprising to see the perfection with which these stones have been put together without any mud mixture between them, as is also to imagine how these enormous stones were transported there and carried uphill.
This amazing Peru trip continues with a visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, an area from Pisac to Ollantaytambo. Located along the Urubamba River, it was an important agriculture production center. You will be able to appreciate the monumental stone fortress of Ollantaytambo, and the Inca agricultural terraces and the artisan market of Pisaq.
